Pears

From ugly duckling to swan – this can surely be said about the history of this fruit. The first pears were small, fibrous and grew on prickly trees. But in the course of time people selected more “convenient” sorts. Due to its feminine form, taste and juiciness, nowadays pears have earned a status of an erotic fruit. It was popularized in Europe by Louis XIV who was a big fan of pears. During his reign eating pears in Versailles was mandatory.
