Carrots
First to find the way to the dinner table were tops of the carrots that in old times were used similarly like other greens but seeds were mainly used to cure diseases. Already ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans not knowing anything about vitamins made an observation that carrots help the sick to regain health and allow the healthy to stay fit. Sugars, proteins, organic acids, minerals – potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, chlorine, iodine; vitamins B, C, E, K, PP, carotene, folic acid, fibres, essential oil – all those benefits are included in carrots! Orange vegetables stimulate appetite and digestion; normalize cardiovascular systems, operation of liver, pancreas, kidneys and thyroid gland. It is been said that warriors that were hiding in the Trojan horse ate lot of carrots before the fight to clear their intestines and avoid any problems during the important moment.
